7: Double Leg Stretch

Exercise 7 in the Original 34 series.

Deeper breaths enable a lovely stretch and wringing out of the entire system, stretching and lengthening before folding the body up again.

You’ll need a strong connection through the front of the powerhouse. Core strength, quad and hip flexor strength, hamstring and calves stretched; throw in a bit of shoulder mobility and this is a challenging exercise in anyone’s book!

Make sure you don’t bring your arms any further than the ears and you can make this easier by aiming legs up towards the ceiling – harder by aiming lower – but always maintaining a neutral spine.

Transition: use a bent leg to bring yourself up to sitting, legs straight out in front of you, ready for Spine Stretch.
